Unearthed Artists We Like:
ALTONA
"Numbed full of good time, bittersweet, fuzzy brown cardigan edges and delivered with ease. John Butler Trio at their funkiest, Kings Of Leon at their most blissed out broken yodel, driven by the rhythm attack of The Strokes and Franz Ferdinand.” [Spoz’s Rant – www.spoz.blogspot.com]
“......unpredictable songs that go from soft and dreamy to dark and sinister and back again in the blink of an eye.” [Jimmy Bollard – dB Magazine]
Formed in late 2006, Adelaide band Bakewell Street have worked their way to becoming a favourite amongst Adelaide music fans over the past year. Their recently released debut EP (“Disco, Romeo”) is a collection of their early works, written throughout travels across Chile, Argentina and Brazil. Singled out by ‘Rip it Up’ street press magazine as one of 2007’s stand out live acts, this young band is one to keep an eye on. They are scheduled to begin recording their follow up EP/album in late February (2008). Tour dates to be announced soon.
Highlights over the past year include:
Playing along side such bands as Red Jezebel, Dardenelles, Special Patrol, The Inches, Plastic Palace Alice, S.I.G.I.T & Former Child Stars.
Picked as Rip it Up’s best local live band for 2007.
EP launch to a pre sell out crowd at ‘The Promethean’ – with over 100 copies sold.
Played on Triple J’s debut Unearthed program on ABC2 TV.
