To say the next band on the bill Inanimate Objects are an original band would be the understatement of the year. As one anonymous punter put it (and quite adeptly for half-past ten on a Friday night), they have a "quirky arrangement, with an eclectic array of songs," and a great amount of "musical depth." And who can deny that, when frontman Patrick Arnold pulled out an electric ukulele, and bassist Dan 'Wham Bam' Simpson his electric double bass for a psychedelic jazz cover of Paranoid Android?

The double bass came out again later in the set for the all too familiar riff of Marilyn Manson's Beautiful People, which along with Jono Hunt's electric piano skills, made this again was an incredibly unique experience. There is nothing quite like hearing a very jazzy voice, somewhat like Jeff Buckley, singing the lines, "There's a time to discriminate every motherfucker that is in your way!" To finish up, Inanimate Objects upped the showmanship, with Simpson finally giving the audience the bass solo they had been calling for all night. This was then followed one of Hunt's screeching guitar solos – played with a tambourine!

2007 2nd Place in Mercury Bluescope Band Competition and 2006 winners of the Arrive Alive listeners Choice Award, National Campus Band Comp.
With a very tight and professional sound, Wollongong band, ‘Inanimate Objects’ use a beautifully blended combination of acoustically driven attention-grabbing sounds to produce their cleverly layered original fusion of melodic-funk-rock.

“Wollongong favourites Inanimate Objects provided the acoustic rock people craved at that point, and didn’t disappoint with a tight little set. I’ve seen them play the last couple of years and they have really started to define their sound, a mix of rock, soul and jazz, with a hint of lime that went down a treat. Well done to the boys for picking up the People’s Choice award and good luck cutting the debut album”

"Inanimate Objects, from the steel city, began gently with soft acoustics and mellow vocals, before taking a varied tour through funk and rock, with a bit of reggae and jazzy sounds thrown in at times. Not boys to be easily pigeonholed, their style changed from song to song, and even mid song. Vocalist Patrick Arnold's versatile voice beguiled you with its softness, before rising with surprising intensity. An Iota cover, with bongo accompaniment, was a highlight."
