The Moving Targets
Genre:
Pop
Region: Darwin, NT
Sounds Like: Paul kelly, Icecream Hands, wilco

The Moving Targets once described their sound as folk/pop that gets real drunk and throws up on itself... They have now settled on the fact that 'guitar/pop' is probably more appropriate... Dave Garnham is the leas sing/songwriter and we're sending him to Sound Summit from Darwin!

Interview: 18 June 2010
Tell us about your approach to song writing.
Fairly 'organic' if that actually means anything. I don't force things. I can't stand rhyming the same word with the same word, nor can I entertain a cliched rhyme. I think you should write and sing about things you understand, or in the very least feel. Despite this - I maintain the notion that there are no rules... Hypocrytical? Yep... Sanctimonious? You betcha...

What are you hoping to get from the Unearthed Song writing workshop?
Autographs, and awkward photos with celebrities that I can put as my profile picture on facebook.

How are you most looking forward to hearing speak at Song Summit?
I heart Charles Jenkins, Clare Bowditch, Colin Hay, Dan Kelly, Dave Faulkner, Josh Pyke, Kevin Mitchell, Paul McKercher, and Wally de Backer. I heart them all so very much.

What's coming up in the future?
We (The Moving Targets) are actually going through a line-up change, so we are quite happily taking things slow this year, getting the new band tight and writing for the rest of the year, and then recording an LP in 2011. I had a 'solo' album in the wings for this year, but I think this will be waylaid for now.

Australian music is?
Lovely. It's like being rolled up in a warm blanket and kissed on the eyelids.
