Tell us about your music?
We originally were going to form a bowling team but Hamish was rubbish and James didn’t look good in the attire. Turned out Hamish could play bass pretty well, so we now try and create rock&roll/pop music that is strong in character & can shake you a little bit.
Tell us about working with Luke Steele.
I met Luke at the Perth Blues Club down on Charles Street, while I was still going to high school. He’s always looking sharp, he goes surfing in a suit and tie. He showed me that a song is like a puzzle & each sound is a little piece you have to place carefully to achieve the end picture. I’m a better musician because of him.
What can the audience expect from you at the South Bound festival?
Guitars, drums, keyboards, tambourines, trash cans, noise & melody.
Who are you looking forward to seeing at the festival?
There’s plenty of great bands we’re looking forward to see, but to name a few…. Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, The Drones, The Hives & our buddies in End of Fashion (Their new record is great!)
What's coming up in the future?
We’re going to record our first EP early next year & play a bunch of shows. We want to do a couple of gigs with a horn section also, so we are currently working on some arrangements for trumpet, sax & trombone.
Australian music is?
Australian music is happening. There are some great bands out there, some playing the big gigs to thousands of people… and some playing at the local pub to Nigel.
