Thunderous pop doom from the most deranged and restless showponies you'll find in Sydney!
Interview: 1 September 2008
Can you tell us how you developed your sound?
It came together really quickly - we wrote the songs on our Unearthed page within about a month. The secret? Putting a metal drummer, blues guitarist, hardcore bassist and a pop singer in a room together - and not trying to get along haha. Luckily we all see eye to eye when it comes to this band, even though we diss each other's iPod contents a fair bit.
How long have you been together - where did you find each other?
We've been together about seven months now, though it feels weird to think we weren't doing this in 2006. Dan hit me up on MySpace - I was looking for bandmates and he liked what I was doing. Mike and I played together in our last band, and we met Skarlett through an awesome mutual friend.
You played Acer Arena with Panic at the Disco??
Yep, and it was insane. To go from playing little Sydney venues to a stadium with thousands of screaming kids was the single most exciting and humbling thing that's ever happened to us. We were ridiculously lucky to get that gig, especially considering our music isn't really in the whole 'Panic' demographic, although they picked us for it. Still pinching ourselves about that one. Cobra Starship and The Academy Is... were fierce as well, my horizons were definitely broadened that night.
What's coming up in the future?
A lot of fun and probably not enough sleep! A lot of shows, a lot of recording and an EP out in December, or an album if we win Lotto/suddenly become amazing self-engineers.
Australian music is?
Kicking ass - it's so rad how people overseas are all into Australian acts right now and want to embrace all of it and give everything a go.
