Local Resident Failure are a punk rock band hailing from Newcastle. They'll be taking the stage at the Fat As Butter Festival in Newcastle, as selected by triple j Unearthed.

Tell us about your music – how did you develop your sound?
Our music has sometimes been classed as "noise" or "crap", which in some cases is true, but most of the time we take alot of influences from bands who have had to develop their sound from years of experience and new technology throughout the years - bands such as Frenzal Rhomb, NOFX, Lagwagon, Bad Religion and Propagandhi to name a few. We just like crazy, fast, melodic songs that make you want to jump up in your bedroom, grab a hairbrush and romance yourself in the mirror.....or is that just me?
What can the Fat As Butter audience expect from your live show?
Some of the feelings the crowd might experience are as follows: happiness, sadness, laughter, nausia, puberty, headaches, confusion, hunger followed by dissapointment....that our set has finished. Oh, and we'll have shirts for sale too.
Who are you looking forward to seeing at Fat As Butter?
The Hoods, The Spoon, The Tokyo, The Evans, The Juice, The Phrase, Us, and Frenzal.....oh wait, they're not playing. Whoops!!!
What’s coming up in the future?
We're going to record some demos for our debut album, but we have no money so I'm guessing it'll be out in 2011 when we get some cash together. Other than that we'll just be sitting around on our arses waiting for smitty to pay for everything....I swear we'll pay you back this time ;) We'll try and play more shows aswell...I promise.
Australian music is?
F***king awesome, when it's not immitating what is coming out of the states. If it wasn't for triple j, bands like ourselves and every other band in the country wouldn't be getting a chance against the machine that builds corporate bullshit for gullible children to inhale. I'm pretty sure triplej is responsible for breaking every band in this country, even Short Stack. I love those guys, they represent what is real in the industry today. Good hair, good tunes, good makeup. Maybe if our drummer was in that band he might get some 14 year old girl yelling at him, rather than his mum yelling at him to tell him to clean his room....oh wait, she probably does it for him.
